I painted this piece for a woman to hang in the studio of the small business she shares with her daughter. This piece gave me an opportunity to practice landscapes, and turned into my best painted landscape to date.

I require contracts for paintings like this. I draft each contract specifically for the particular project, and I never want either party to sign until my client has had a chance to review and propose edits. I take it very seriously that my project contracts always protect the needs of both me and my clients.

Depending on the complexity, a commission for a painting this size would be somewhere between $300 and $800, before materials. Completing this project taught me that landscapes are more expensive than portraits of the same size and subject matter.
